SPLIT/IMAGE — Young adult mental illness, suicide, and sharing life through a filter.

This is an incredibly moving and important article about the mental health struggles of Madison Holleran, a University of Pennsylvania freshman who committed suicide over a year ago. I work on Penn's campus, so this story hits close to home for me. But what stands out about this article is the focus on the dichotomy between life on social media and reality — and how they can mask a person's struggles and also make a person with depression feel as if they are alone. This is a must-read.
